AJT has completed the Safety Risk Management Document, Siting Analysis, Conceptual and Final Design for this critical Louisiana Gulf emergency fall back airport.  Crucial to the Army National Guard and the Department of Homeland Security, this airport is designated as the staging location for emergency Gulf of Mexico operations.  Along with General Aviation traffic, the LAANG and DHS are based on this 2 runway airport.  Eight sites were investigated, with the preferred site having to overcome VOR and Line of Sight issues.

 

AJT provided construction support including on site inspections, construction draws and submittal review, as well as the procurement of all communications equipment through the Army National Guard.

 

The new 6 story, 58'-4" (cab floor height) tower design includes 3 finished levels. The tower was not be equipped with an elevator to save costs.  Designed for a future elevator and 3 future levels, these items can be installed as funding becomes available.  All electrical, grounding and bonding is in accordance with FAA specifications and standards. The floor plans accommodate all required functions of an ATCT as required by the Minimum Equipment List.

 

The Tower was awarded the 2015 Louisiana Statewide Community Achievement from the Louisiana Municipal Association.
